Carnival is almost upon us and here’s where to buy the perfect outfit for you and/or the kids!
It’s worth knowing that around carnival time (in February), most of the major supermarkets, such as Auchan and Cora, will stock a selection of outfits. Outside of that time, you may need to go to one of these specialist stores:
Party Shop: City Centre and Junglinster
Huge for Luxembourg, Party Shop has an impressive selection of costumes for both young and old, including Star Wars, Frozen and more traditional carnival masks. Starting from 6 months, the costumes also boast accessories to make the simplest outfit stand out and you can go to town with balloons, decorations and games. There’s also the benefit of being in two locations, so that you don’t have to brave parking in the city centre.
Whether you’re looking for ancient Egyptian or teacher themes; licensed costumes or Halloween horror, Simsalabim has something for you. They specialise in three particular festivals: Carnival, Halloween and Oktoberfest, but that covers most eventualities. They also do rental of costumes and even themed things for parties if you ask in advance.
Children are the name of Moo and Roo’s game and it’s here that your child can rent the costume of their dreams. Knights, princesses, wizards, witches, pirates and captains, fairies and dragons, Robin Hoods, aliens, astronauts, Zorro and flamenco dresses including accessories for ages 4-9 years. Photos can be found here.
Prices are 15 EUR per day – T&C apply
Not just an indoor playground, Indyland has a wide selection of costumes to rent or sell (rental not available on Sundays). You can browse through them here; there will be something for everyone as they range from traditional outfits to the more colourful (and bizarre). Other services include helium and balloons. Open Monday to Sundays from 11:00 – 19:00.
