Between October 7th and 14th, the Philharmonie will dedicate a full week to the music of Portuguese speaking countries. It will be invaded by the melodies and rhythms of Brasil, Portugal and Cape Verde, and will welcome celebrated musicians such as Carminho, Vinícius Cantuária, Maria João, Egberto Gismonti or Rodrigo Leão, among others, for a feast of sounds.
Intimately associated by history and language and with musical traditions that perfectly illustrate the well-known verse by Caetano Veloso that «everyone knows the pain and the delight of being who they are», these diasporas of lusophone origins have, for decades, contributed to shape Luxembourg’s society and its daily life. Presently they account for almost a fifth of the Grand-Duchy’s population.
On October 8th, as part of the Festival Atlântico series, the Philharmonie will welcome Rodrigo Leão & Scott Matthew and we’ve got a pair of tickets for you!
Rodrigo Leão & Scott Matthew: a Portuguese composer with the eyes on the world, an Australian singer-, songwriter based in New York City, both with their own acclaimed career. An improbable meeting, you would say, but it was in fact one meeting that seemed bound to happen sooner or later. Even before knowing each other, Rodrigo Leão and Scott Matthew seemed to circle the same grooves.
