It’s never something anyone likes to think about, but health issues and medical emergencies can happen to any of us whether we’re ready for it or not, and the risks increase when you’re in an environment that you are not entirely familiar with.
While it’s impossible to completely avoid it, the best defence against a health crisis is to be prepared. City Savvy’s Rute Vendeirinho has researched all the hospitals in Luxembourg to provide you with a handy list.

The hospitals’ emergency rooms operate on a 24 hour rotation system; a list of on-duty hospitals is published every day on the last page of Tageblatt newspaper and is also available on the LuxWeb website. If in doubt, call 112; they will let you know which hospital is on duty.
*Please note that the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) incorporates a general hospital, a pediatric unit (Clinique Pédiatrique) and a maternity unit (Maternité G-D Charlotte), which are all in the same campus in Strassen. There is also another wing of the CHL at Clinique d’Eich.
In the same way, the Centre Hospitalier du Kirchberg includes a general hospital (Hôpital Kirchberg) where you can also find the pediatric specialists, a self-proclaimed ‘Clinique de la Femme’ in Clinique Bohler and a general hospital with a dedicated geriatric unit at Esch-sur-Alzette (Clinique Sainte Marie).
