Could your children be the next Torvill and Dean? Do they dream of playing ice hockey at the Winter Olympics? Or would they just like to have some fun on the slopes? Here’s a guide to winter sports, after school.
The club accepts players from 5 years old, and they don’t need to have any ice-skating experience but hopefully some basic skating knowledge. Your kids can borrow equipment for their try out but you will eventually need to buy your child their own equipment but don’t worry-the team will give you a detailed list.
HORSE BACK RIDING
Baybees offers horse riding for kids of all ages and abilities. Children get the chance to come up close and personal with ponies by encouraging every student to learn how to brush, tack up and prepare their pony before riding, as well as untacking and providing the aftercare once the riding has finished.
Your children get the true horse experience when they spend their time at the stables! Extra curricular activities such as the Pony Camps, Pony Fun Days and birthday parties are also an option.
Opening hours from 9am to 8pm Sunday to Friday / Closed Saturdays. Stable visits and lessons are available by appointment only – please email here.
IHCB – Youth
Every Saturday morning from 9am to 10:15am, the Ice Hockey Club of Beaufort opens its doors to children between the ages of 5-15.
A real treat for those over 15 wanting to test their winter driving, Beaufort ice rink is unique in the Grand Region for offering the possibility to go ice-karting! You can book 1 hour sessions far in advance or you can book a half-hour slot on Sunday evenings for the beginning of the month.
Children can join the ‘Skaties’ group from 4 years old up until 12 years old and it is possible to rent skates from the rink. These classes are very popular, and start in September, so be sure to put your child on the waiting list if there are no spaces available immediately.
The basic language during the courses is French, but for the beginners’ groups their instructors cover a wide range of other languages (Luxembourgish, German, English, Dutch, Greek, Japanese, to name but a few …)
A friendly team dedicated to ‘chess on ice’ for older children. A great way to incorporate skating skills and mental strategy. Mondays and Wednesdays from 19:30 to 21:30. Come in jeans and tennis shoes.
Skiing and Snowboarding
Not in Luxembourg, but only 80km away and lessons provided for children in German. A regular way to get your ski fix in before hitting the slopes on holiday. Snowboarding also a possibility!
Indoor skiing, tobogganing, snowboarding and just clowning around in the snow are actively encouraged at Amneville. You can get a family pass and hire a private instructor (from 4.5 upwards) or book your little ones into group sessions for under 12s.
