Spare time is a luxury for many people these days, but for Annica Törneryd, single mother of three, competitive kick boxer, and founder of ACT2exceed there really isn’t that much time to spare. Any spare moments she manages to grasp are spent reading books on personal growth, on topics that will provide her with tools and ideas of how to become a better version of herself. And just maybe, she’ll be lucky enough to find time for one of her passions, writing, and develop some content for an article or a chapter of a book.
In the beginning
16 years ago Annica found herself in Luxembourg after having left her birth place of Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden and experiencing many exciting international adventures including California, Stockholm, London and Paris. After leaving her position working with the Director General of the Translation Directorate in the Swedish Translation Unit in 2007 she gave birth to her first child. Somewhat surprisingly, with an almost brand new baby, she discovered she was pregnant…with twins… and within one year had had 3 babies.
…the best word I can use to describe that, in all ways possible, good and bad, is INTENSE! So much love, so much baby stuff, so much baby vomit in my hair and on my clothes, so little sleep, so many diapers in my bin, so many kisses, so many baby clothes to wash, such big boobs, tons of homemade purées and about a thousand photos taken every day, capturing every blink of all three babies.
The Last Single Mom
With a passion for writing, and a lifelong dream to publish some of her own work, The Last Single Mom came to fruition – a heartfelt and true story about the complexity of single motherhood, and what you can do to conquer it. It began as diary entries and personal reflections as she worked to overcome a very painful situation when her family fell to pieces. Writing this first book was the best therapy in the world for Annica, and while it was a struggle at times to get the chapters written, she says that by creating the daily habit of writing a few pages, soon sees the first chapter turning into several, which increased her motivation to keep going.
Annica strives to be the best role model she can possibly be first and foremost for her biggest inspirations – her children.
Showing them that you can design the life you want, and that you have the choice to look at challenges and “failures” as a source of inspiration to overcome, and that it’s possible to succeed – even if you’re a single parent, in a foreign country and by stepping away from a comfortable “9 to 5” lifestyle
Mentors over the years who continue to inspire her include Christian Mickelsen, Kelly Fidel, Tony Robbins, and Richard Branson who she has regarded as the coolest person on Earth since the age of 15.
Change your life with ACT2exceed
It’s not hard to see how this remarkable and positive woman has become the inspiring founder of ACT2exceed, where she works with groups and individuals to improve their leadership and communication skills, make the best choices to reach their goals, and improve both individual performance and team spirit. The Intentional Leadership Coach works with clients 1:1 via Skype, with Mastermind groups both live and virtually, and with companies at their facilities.
On my 20th birthday I set the goal that I would start my own business on my 30th birthday, allowing myself a decade to gain sufficient knowledge and experience and find the perfect business and niche for me and my passions. Then life got in my way, as it so often does… With only 8 years delay, I finally left my secure employment and started my business two years ago. It had been a project and a big dream for almost two decades, but I believe it finally happened at the perfect time. I was ready!
Annica helps her clients to focus on getting clarity. She guides them through answering key questions to find out exactly what they do and don’t want, what they need or what’s holding them back, and what inspires and drives them to not give up until they have reached their goal. Answering these questions helps the client take a big step towards knowing and understanding what they’re aiming for, because unless you start with really clear ideas about what you want to achieve, there’s no real point in even starting.
Working with a coach is, in my personal opinion, the best strategy a person can use if they want or need real change. It is a relationship that is built on a lot of trust, so before you decide to work with a coach, make sure you have the right feel for them. Clients usually express that they feel very motivated, empowered and full of energy after our sessions.
Annica recommends working with a coach if you’re a person who likes to improve, to learn more and grow both as a person and in your professional role. She likens it to any other aspect of your life that you want to improve – to get fit, hire a personal trainer; to find the love of your life hire a relationship coach; to become a better singer hire a voice coach; to feel happier and more fulfilled hire a life coach. If you’re a business owner or a person who cares about how you influence people in your private life and business, work with a leadership coach – which is exactly where ACT2exceed comes in.
