Are you hankering after those familiar brands of toys from home, or simply looking for original, unique and creative clothes, toys and accessories for all stages of your kids’ life here in Luxembourg? Expat and entrepreneur, Beatriz Rosas, has created an online boutique to give you what you’re looking for.
Colombian-born Beatriz moved to Luxembourg in 2005 because of her Danish husband’s work, leaving behind the city of Cali famous for its green surroundings, partying and Salsa dancing. Luxembourg quickly offered the opportunity to meet people from many different cultures, and Beatriz loves the international vibe that herself and her two young children are now exposed to.
With the desire to start her own business, a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Luxembourg, and the view that there was an obvious gap in the market, online boutique Adorable Care was born in 2013 sourcing interesting and innovative products from around the world. America, England, Holland, France, Spain and Scandinavia are just some of the countries from which Beatriz sources high quality brands, choosing from companies who are passionate about the quality and craftsmanship of their products and have a real commitment towards the world we live in. One such company is Pebble, founded to create jobs for the women in rural Bangladesh which is where their hand-made organic toys are knitted.
Buying for the business what she would buy for her own children often makes it difficult to resist, and if you peeked into her house you would see that most of the products are being quality tested by her own children. And as for the most popular gifts on the website?
“The most popular items are the educational toys, and costumes. I believe the reason is because nowadays parents are more conscious about their choices and many are interested to buy toys that encourage their children to use their imagination and that inspire creative and pretend role-playing. I have noticed that many of them try to avoid the non-durable plastic and noisy toys that do the “playing” for their kids and instead they want something durable, educational, and of course value for money“
What else could a busy mum and business owner possibly fit into her already hectic schedule?
“When I get time, I enjoy meeting my multi-cultural group of friends and also recently I started to train in the gym and do some running. I’m very happy and motivated about it and one of my goals is to be able to run the next ING marathon in Luxembourg“.
Not short of goals for the future, Beatriz also hopes to continue working hard on her online boutique bringing more attractive and unique products to the Duchy, with a dream of eventually having a physical store to give her contact with her shoppers – to see their reactions to products, guide them and offer advice on purchases.
